The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Aizawl organized a nationwide educational campaign titled "Project Vidyasagar, Education Workshop" aimed at fostering awareness among educators regarding diverse learning competencies across educational tiers. Hosted in Aizawl, Mizoram, this two-day workshop, held from March 14th to 15th, 2024, at the SCERT premises in Chaltlang, Mizoram, focused on disseminating learning competencies aligned with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) of 2023, specifically targeting the middle and secondary educational levels.
Collaboratively organized by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), its National Assessment Centre PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), SCERT Aizawl, and the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), this workshop marked the 23rd event in the series of nationwide initiatives under Project Vidyasagar. Initiated in response to the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020 and the National Assessment Survey (NAS), this campaign underscores the imperative of integrating learning competencies delineated in the NCFSE 2023.
Ms. Shalini S Sharma, Assistant Secretary General at PHDCCI, inaugurated the workshop, extending a warm welcome to the 62 participating educators and emphasized on the significance of this collaborative endeavour. Professor Indrani Bhaduri, Head and CEO of PARAKH NCERT, delivered the keynote address, stressing the essential role of educators in comprehending and imparting learning competencies across foundational, preparatory, middle, and secondary levels. She commended SCERT Aizawl's efforts and urged participants to be the ambassadors of the workshop's learnings throughout Mizoram, thereby fostering a culture of competency-based learning in alignment with NEP 2020.
Dr. Lalduhawmi Thomte, Joint Director of SCERT Mizoram, graced the inaugural session as the chief guest, lauding the collaborative initiative's potential to enhance the quality of education nationwide. She underscored the necessity for the transformation in teaching in learning methods, and advocated for a departure from the conventional practices towards fostering problem-solving and analytical skills among students. Mr. F Lalliansanga, Deputy Director of SCERT Mizoram, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the urgency of educational system reform and teacher training to effectively disseminate learning competencies
